LO LOGRARÉ (SAB, FLUTE AND PIANO)
$2.15
A beautifully affirmation of communal happiness.
for SAB choir, Flute, and piano
“Lo Lograré” radiates hope and perseverance, a song where “happiness emerges as an inevitable destiny.” The piano accompaniment, obligato instrument, and mixed voices are all beautifully and equally woven together. In places, the choir joins the instrument in a wordless chorus, further tightening the dialogue between each voice. “Lo Lograré” translates to English as “I will make it.” Unashamed joy and hope is a wonderful message for choirs and audiences to share alike. The unusual combination of forces (SAB, piano, & horn/flute) provides many options for creative programming.
Composer’s Notes
David Batdorf, choral director at Golder Prep High School, has dedicated his work to awakening and sharing a love for choral music among his students. Through the Cantaré project, the fruits of this commitment became evident: a choir that is unified, cohesive, and, above all, profoundly musical. The work presented here became a true challenge that fostered the artistic growth of these young singers.
With text by writer José Alfredo Barrón, “Lo Lograré” — though brief in length — radiates a luminous breath of hope. It is a song to perseverance, where happiness emerges as an inevitable destiny, even when the journey proves long and filled with trials. Each stumble becomes a lesson; each obstacle, an inner triumph.
Musically, the piece calls for a pianistic performance of agile and energetic character, with clear phrasing and light articulations that bring vitality to the discourse. This movement contrasts with the vocal line, designed to project firmness and conviction, creating an expressive dialogue between the piano’s vitality and the voice’s determination.
