CONFERENCE “THE CHORAL ARRANGEMENT OF POPULAR MUSIC OF MEXICO”
In Mexico, music is an incessant reflection of daily life, a forceful description of its wonderful geography, its biodiversity and its multiculturalism. Behind many of these great songs and sounds are arrangers who have contributed to adapting this music in a unique and creative way to choral singing, creating a historical testimony and sometimes rescuing songs from oblivion when performed by various choirs inside and outside of Mexico.
Seeking to understand the history of the choral arrangement and the future of the choral movement in Mexico, this conference takes as a dialogue the interweaving of contributions from people like Ramón Noble and Juan D. Tercero, who have given away an enormous collection of choral music tools; as well as the work of more current arrangers such as José Galván, Jorge Córdoba and Jorge Cózatl, who lead the perspective of choral music in the country in an avant-garde way.
The main objective of this conference is to celebrate and publicize the work of the arrangers who have enriched choral singing in Mexico, thus the participants will have a better informed notion about the influence and importance of Mexican choral music and its connection with the culture and country identity. En México la música es un incesante reflejo de la vida cotidiana, una descripción contundente de su maravillosa geografía, de su biodiversidad y su pluriculturalidad. Detrás de muchas de estas grandes canciones y sones se encuentran arreglistas que han contribuido a adaptar esta música de manera única y creativa al canto coral, creando un testimonio histórico y en ocasiones rescatando canciones de caer en el olvido al interpretarse por diversos coros dentro y fuera de México.
Buscando comprender la historia del arreglo coral y el futuro del movimiento coral en México, esta conferencia toma como diálogo el entretejido de aportes de personas como Ramón Noble y Juan D. Tercero, que han regalado un enorme acervo de herramientas de la música coral; así como el trabajo de arreglistas más actuales como José Galván, Jorge Córdoba y Jorge Cózatl, que encabezan de forma vanguardista la perspectiva de la música coral en el país.
El principal objetivo de esta conferencia es celebrar y dar a conocer el trabajo de los arreglistas que han enriquecido el canto coral en México, así los participantes tendrán una noción mejor informada sobre la influencia y la importancia de la música coral mexicana y su conexión con la cultura y la identidad del país.
