¡¡¡PRIMER POST!!!

Pfff…. Después de varios intentos, algunos años y montón de inversión y esfuerzo AL FIN TENGO MI WEBSITE!!! Sé que he tardado mucho tiempo pero quería que fuera una página especial y preferí no estrenarla hasta que estuviera justo como la quería, aunque seguro iré haciendo algunas mejoras con el pasar del tiempo.

No podía dejar pasar la oportunidad de incluir en la página un Blog que utilizaré de “diario musical” para hablar de cualquier tema que me resulte interesante, y la mejor manera que se me ocurrió para estrenar esta sección es hablar de la música que estoy incluyendo en el estreno de esta website.

Voy a empezar hablando de las obras para coros infantiles, la primera es “Niño Corazón de Maíz”, con letra de Elena Ortíz Muñiz, esta obra le tengo profundo cariño, fue de las primeras obras que escribí para el Proyecto “Cantaré” en Chicago, para un coro de una primaria llamada Hanson Park Elementary School la cual habla de la grandeza del maíz y de lo sagrado que es para México. Por otro lado, la otra obra infantil es “Los Caracolitos”, con letra de María Antonia Jiménez, la cual habla de la niñez que habita en los caracoles zapatistas, que son territorios autónomos del Estado de Chiapas.

Decidí agregar un par de arreglos de obras tradicionales de México, estas son “Xtoles” y “Xochipitzahuatl”, estas obras representan culturas muy conocidas e importantes para la identidad de México como lo son la cultura maya y la huasteca, de ésta última siento un profundo cariño por tener mis raíces en esta zona. De ambas obras hay una versión para coro mixto y otra para coro femenino.

“Necesito Una Nube” es la obra más compleja que hay en la página hasta el momento, la cual escribí durante un viaje por Europa, con letra de Adriana Sanabria, un texto surreal que expresa un anhelo por salir del mundo terrenal hacia un estado etéreo y atemporal.

Hay un par de obras SSATBB, estas son “Salve Regina” y “En Paz”. “Salve Regina” fue escrita para el Coro de la Universidad Veracruzana como parte de un proyecto PECDA y fue mi primera obra escrita para SSATBB, y con ella descubrí mi gusto por escribir a 6 voces y terminé escribiendo algunas otras. Luego está “En Paz”, una obra tan profunda para mí que me sigue costando describirla, escrita para un amigo que fue desaparecido durante la guerra del narcotráfico que inició en el 2006 en México.

Y finalmente, se encuentran dos de las últimas obras que he escrito. Una de ellas es “Mirar al Río” con letra de Mirtha Luz Pérez, estrenada en Wisconsin por La Crosse Chamber Chorale y su director Dr. Chris Hathaway, durante una gira por USA con Vox, esta obra habla del continuo movimiento del Río Bravo a través de la frontera entre USA y México. Y “Remanso, Canción Final” con letra de Federico García Lorca, estrenada por University of Texas of the Permian Basin University Choir y su director Dr. Frank Eychaner, en esta obra trato de abarcar todos los sentires de la obra de Lorca, utilizando el silencio para crear una atmósfera calma y silenciosa para evocar la soledad, la nostalgia y belleza de la noche.

Quería lanzar la página con todas mis obras pero me hubiera llevado aún más tiempo estrenarla, por lo que hice una selección de estas 9 obras para iniciar, cada mes iré subiendo algunas más hasta subir todas. Esto es todo por ahora, me emociona mucho tener al fin una página donde puedo compartir mi música, mis experiencias y mis sentires acerca de la música y de la vida, espero compartir algo más muy pronto.

FIRST POST!!!

Pfff…. After several attempts, a few years and a lot of investment and effort I FINALLY HAVE MY WEBSITE!!! I know it took me a long time but I wanted something special, I preferred not to release it until it was exactly how I wanted it, although I will surely make some improvements as time goes by.

I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to include on the page a Blog that I will use as a “musical diary” to talk about any topic that I find interesting, and the best way I could think of to launch this section is to talk about the music that I am including at the premiere of this website.

I am going to start by talking about the works for children’s choirs, the first is “Niño Corazón de Maíz”, with lyrics by Elena Ortíz Muñiz, I have deep affection for this work, it was one of the first works I wrote for the “Cantaré” Project in Chicago , written for Hanson Park Elementary School which talks about the greatness of corn and how sacred it is to Mexico. On the other hand, the other children’s work is “Los Caracolitos”, with lyrics by María Antonia Jiménez, which talks about the childhood that lives in the “caracoles zapatistas”, which are autonomous territories of the State of Chiapas.

I decided to add a couple of arrangements of traditional music from Mexico, these are “Xtoles” and “Xochipitzahuatl”, these works represent very well-known and important cultures for the identity of Mexico such as the Mayan and Huasteca cultures, about the latter I feel a deep affection for having my roots in this area. There is a version of both works for SATB and for SSAA.

There are a couple of SSATBB works, these are “Salve Regina” and “En Paz”. “Salve Regina” was written for the Coro de la Universidad Veracruzana as part of a PECDA project and it was my first work written for SSATBB, and with it I discovered I liked writing for 6 voices and I ended up writing some others. Then there is “En Paz”, a work so profound for me that it is still difficult for me to describe it, written for a friend who was disappeared during the drug war that began in 2006 in Mexico.

And finally, there are two of the latest works I have written. One of them is “Mirar al Río” with lyrics by Mirtha Luz Pérez, premiered in Wisconsin by the La Crosse Chamber Chorale and its director Dr. Chris Hathaway, during a tour of Vox through United States, this work speaks of the continuous movement of the Río Bravo to across the border between the USA and Mexico. And “Remanso, Canción Final” with lyrics by Federico García Lorca, premiered by the University of Texas of the Permian Basin University Choir and its director Dr. Frank Eychaner, in this work I try to cover all the feelings of Lorca’s work, using the silence to create a calm and silent atmosphere to evoke the loneliness, nostalgia and beauty of the night.

I wanted to launch the page with all my works but it would have taken me even more time to release it, so I made a selection of these 9 works to start, each month I will upload some more until I upload all of them. This is all for now, I am very excited to finally have a page where I can share my music, my experiences and my feelings about music and life, I hope to share something more very soon.
